NetApp Inc. (NASDAQ:NTAP) shares jumped 4.86% to $38.42. The company on May 21 said its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings slipped 3.8% as the data-storage firm recorded higher operating expenses and weaker product sales, though core profits improved.
For the quarter ending April 26, NetApp reported a profit of $173.8 million, down from $180.7 million a year earlier. On a per share basis, earnings were unchanged at 47 cents. Adjusted per-share earnings rose to 69 cents from 66 cents. Revenue edged up 0.8%, to $1.72 billion. The company in February forecast adjusted earnings of 65 cents to 70 cents a share and revenue of $1.7 billion to $1.8 billion.
Yingli Green Energy Hold. Co. Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE:YGE) shares decreased 2.54% to $3.46. The company, on May 21, announced its preliminary financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2013. Based upon preliminary data, the Company expects its PV module shipment in the first quarter of 2013 to decrease by 6% to 7% from the fourth quarter of 2012, better than its previous guidance of a low-to-mid teen percent decrease from the fourth quarter of 2012. The Company expects its overall gross margin in the first quarter of 2013 to be in the range of 4.0% to 4.2%, which is in line with its previous guidance of low-to-mid single digit percent.
